Mentorship Program
Growing Grounds, Inc empowers youth to be S.T.E.A.M. leaders. When students participate in our mentorship program we train them to facilitate S.T.E.A.M. workshops for children grades k - 8th in various settings and communities

Our mentorship program provide positive role models that help youth develop academically, socially, and emotionally. Mentors participate in group recreational activities & service learning projects.
Each year we select several middle school and high school students to act as mentors. This select group of mentors travel to elementary & middle schools , libraries, museums, children homes, as well as other venues in the local area to provide interactive, hands-on S.T.E.A.M. labs throughout the year.
These fun labs and real world discussions make learning about S.T.E.A.M. fun for children! It gives students the opportunity to visualize abstract concepts that may not have been fully understood in class.
Our mentorship program has proven to be of great benefit to students’ on all levels k – 12. It acts as a great confidence building tool, It builds leadership skills, and gives our mentors a sense of self worth. The best test of whether or not you really understand a concept is trying to teach it to someone else. Research shows that students learn best when being taught by their peers.
What we are doing in our mentor program has such a tremendous impact on our student volunteers that several have gone on to establish professional careers in S.T.E.A.M.

ACT PREP!
Many colleges require scores from the ACT or SAT tests as a part of the admissions process. Your ACT score is a key component of your college applications.
The purpose of the ACT test is to measure a high school student's readiness for college, and provide colleges with one common data point that can be used to compare all applicants. College admissions officers will review standardized test scores alongside your high school GPA, the classes you took in high school, letters of recommendation from teachers or mentors, extracurricular activities, admissions interviews, and personal essays. How important ACT scores are in the college application process varies from school to school.
Overall, the higher you score on the ACT, the more options for attending and paying for college will be available to you.
